Having made it known that he feels his current United side lack pace in wide areas, the Dutchman confirmed that the club would consider a move for their former number seven.
"He plays on the wings and he is fast and scores goals. I don't think there is a trainer in the world that doesn't like him," van Gaal explained.
"Of course we would look. We are looking at all the players, not only Ronaldo, but these players are mostly not to get. Let's wait, and hope."
The Daily Mail also points out that United could afford the £60m transfer fee and Ronaldo's £250,000-a-week wages.
