Birmingham City and Wrexham both fired cheeky digs at Southampton after the Championship fixtures were announced.
The Saints discovered their fate for the upcoming campaign in the second tier after their unprecedented expulsion from last season's play-offs.
Remarkably, Tonda Eckert's side were denied the opportunity to face Hull City in the play-off final after beating Middlesbrough in their semifinal clash, after an analyst was caught filming Boro's training.
Now, Southampton are preparing for another year in the Championship, with the major sanction putting an end to Premier League hopes.
The route to the big time will be tougher too, with an immediate four point deduction from the start of the campaign, and the likes of Burnley, West Ham and Wolves in the division.
Birmingham, on the other hand, begin their campaign away to Sheffield United, yet made sure to make a note of their clash with the Saints on social media.
Wrexham too poked fun at Southampton for the 'Spygate' saga, meeting their opposition in September.
