The brother of Lionel Messi reportedly became involved in a skirmish with police after a routine traffic stop over the weekend.

Matias Messi was found to have a pistol in his vehicle, and to make things worse he allegedly didn't have the correct license for the gun. The 33-year-old reportedly became engaged in a violent scuffle with police which resulted in him gaining a cut above the eyebrow. Messi was later taken into police custody following the incident and now faces a gun charge and another potential count of violent disobedience, according to a Cadena 3 media report in Argentina. Younger brother Lionel is currently nursing himself back to fitness following a knee injury picked up against Las Palmas. The news of Matias' brush with the law comes at a time when Messi and his father are facing charges of tax evasion in Spain.
