A building in the New Ferry area, Wirral has been destroyed in an explosion that resulted from a gas leak.

Speaking with ITV, a spokesman for Merseyside Fire and Rescue confirmed that they are dealing with the wreckage. "They have collapsed in a suspected explosion due to a gas leak," they  said. Labour MP for Wirral South, Alsion McGovern, has stated that police and emergency services are on the scene and has advised for people to stay away from the scene. https://twitter.com/Alison_McGovern/status/845763644898119680 Josh Parry, senior journalist at the Liverpool Echo, has been providing updates from the scene and he says that 30 firemen are currently being briefed. He also added that "there are some injured people being walked to ambulances now. One with a serious head bandage.
