If you're not too familiar with JMSN you might want to start blessing your ears with the art he's creating.
Returning with a new single, "So Badly" is a combination of many things. It's vintage funk, transcended soul, futuristic pop, fluid R&B, bespoke rock, the list goes on and on. And while it is in fact all of aforementioned genres blended together, the one thing that does stay the same throughout is the quality of the recording, it's music in its finest form.
If you're a fan of Childish Gambino's Grammy-nominated Awaken, My Love album, or it's Grammy-winning single, "Redbone", then you're going to absolutely love it - it may not be a direct comparison but it's of the same ilk.
JMSN (real name Christian Berishaj)is a singer, a songwriter, a producer, an arranger, and probably a million other things too. One of the main contributors to Kendrick Lamar's critically-acclaimed worldwide introduction, good kid m.A.A.d. city, he's also a bloody good musician in his own right.
With albums like Priscilla, It Is., and last year's Whatever Makes U Happy all defining works in their own right, his self-titled album (that also goes by the name The Blue Album) was arguably the best project of 2014. It was a lesson in songwriting genius while also proving JMSN a force to be reckoned with as far as arranging goes.
While we're not entirely sure if "So Badly" will feature on a new album, it's more than likely that the Michigan-born talent is working on something new. He's someone who truly loves music and is dedicated to the craft, so the day someone like JMSN stops making music is the day we should all start to worry about the status of music.
