EastEnders fans left confused by ‘secret family connection’ between Mel and Ciara

People were pointing out a major problem with the plot line.

So EastEnders, confusing or what? People have been wondering for weeks who Ciara Maguire is and how she is connected to Mel Owen. She has been blackmailing Mel to track down the money she lost in the heist and stopping her seeing her son Hunter. But she finally rocked up to Albert Square last night and revealed she is Hunter's aunt - which in turn would make her the sister of  Hunter's father,  Steve Owen. But there's a problem. Ciara has a thick Irish accent, yet Steve was a proper East End bloke, complete with a cockney accent. What's that about?
