Not according to 18-year-old talent Col3trane it's not. The talented half American half Egyptian songwriter and musician from North London has just released the visuals for his latest single "Language", and it's pretty damn good if we say so ourselves.
Directed by Felix Brady, the video was shot with a motion control camera and uses a zoom lens to spotlight Col3trane and guest vocalist Ebenezer as they navigate their way through an eventful night in South London.
Including house parties, domestic disputes, being collard by the police, getting introspective on several apartment balconies, and even finding time to sit on a roof and just soak in the London skyline, it's an interesting take on life as a teenager in London today.
Taken from his debut mixtape Tsarina, the track features rising British artist Ebenezer whose autotune-enthused chorus compliments the tranquil nature of Col3trane's intergalactic love story.
If you're only just getting to learn about Col3trane (real name Cole Basta) then you're boarding the train at the right time. Ending last year as a tip from major publications and radio stations, including Highsnobiety, Crack, BBC 1xtra and more, it was Tsarina that put him in the ears of fans and on the radars of critics. Working mainly with long term collaborators Lauren Ralph and J Moon, the music he makes is described as future-facing R&B with lyrical depth and narrative.
In February, Col3trane plays a run of four UK shows in Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and London before heading to America to write and to play his debut U.S. dates. Information on the tour can be found below:
