Bradley Wright-Phillips has been tearing up trees in Major League Soccer, but has now claimed an unwanted stat next to his name after missing two penalties in the same match.
The Englishman, who finished last season as the competition's top scorer with 27 goals in 32 games, became the first player in MLS history to fail from the spot twice in the same fixture. To make things worse, his New York Red Bulls team lost the game 2-1 to high-flying Vancouver Whitecaps. https://twitter.com/MLS/status/612429187303878656 Both spot-kicks were saved by David Ousted, Vancouver's Danish goalkeeper, as the Red Bulls' dismal start to the season continued. Things were not made easier by US international Sacha Kljestan picking up a red card just 10 minutes into the game, but Wright-Phillips will hope to make up for his unwanted record against Real Salt Lake in midweek.
