Steward hit by Cristiano Ronaldo wayward shot reveals she ‘thought she had died’

The incident occurred before United's 2-1 loss at Young Boys in September

The steward that was hit by a rogue Cristiano Ronaldo shot prior to Manchester United's away game at Young Boys has revealed that she thought she had died when it hit her. Marisa Nobile was knocked to the ground by the Portuguese captain's wayward strike ahead of United's Champions League defeat at Young Boys in September. As she laid on the floor with medics rushing to her aid, Ronaldo himself also ran over to make sure she was fine. Nobile escaped without serious injury, but she has revealed that she feared for her life in the immediate aftermath of the incident. She told Blick TV: "When the ball hit me on my head it was a full strike. "I was gone in my head and went to the ground. Afterwards I saw Ronaldo above me and said: 'Oh my God no, did I die?' "Ronaldo said: 'No, no. Excuse me! What's happening? Are you all right?' "I was in great pain. My God. I was more or less ballaballa! But then I saw Ronaldo and the headache was gone." As well as apologising for what occurred, Ronaldo gifted Nobile his match-worn shirt after the 2-1 defeat at the Wankdorf Stadium. "I said: 'The game is over, you keep running here on the field and people don't leave.' "I came back: 'So, is it going to end or not? This is Switzerland, dear!' "He told me where to go. I said: 'What a rude guy.' Until yesterday, I didn't like Cristiano Ronaldo." Despite their past 'issues', she did admit that the incident two months ago was not an act of revenge. "It wasn't revenge, no," Nobile added. "He was holding my hand, stroking my face, asking, 'Are you okay, are you okay?' "Now I'm a number one Ronaldete!" Ronaldo and United will be in Premier League action for the first time since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's sacking when they face league-leaders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Related links:
