https://twitter.com/WayneRooney/status/61593468186791936 On April 22, 2011, Wayne Rooney tweeted “Hi rio do u want picking up in the morning pal” – Rio Ferdinand wasn’t @’d, it was probably meant to be a DM or even a text, and we never got a full explanation. It was back when they were Manchester United team-mates, so we can guess that it might have been a lift to the Carrington training ground. But we never got a response from either player. However, six years later, we got to speak to Ferdinand at the FIFA 18 launch even this week – and we couldn’t resist asking him if ever did ever get a lift off Rooney. Ferdinand explained:I did actually, yeah. I never knew where that came from. For years I saw it and didn’t think anything of it.Here’s the full video with Rio:
