Revealed: The ‘laziest’ team in the Premier League

New stats have come to light.

Players at one of the Premier League's biggest clubs have emerged as having done the least running over the course of the 2025/26 season.

Despite the explosive events of last weekend, in which the title race was blown wide open by Arsenal's away defeat to Manchester City, a decline in the overall attacking output throughout the campaign — according to Opta, "there have been only seven games in the Premier League this season in which a team has won by at least four goals" —, and over-reliance on set pieces for goals, has understandably generated less excitement than in previous years.

This has clearly been reflected in the running data for one of the league's top teams, who have been able to press, track back, and work less hard than all of their rivals, all while maintaining a push for European football.

As reported first by the journalist Dom Smith, London giants Chelsea have "been outrun by every single Premier League team in every single Premier League game this season."

Smith described the achievement as "almost impressive," considering it has lasted throughout a massive 33-game run.

While this particular record certainly outlasts the time of Liam Rosenior as manager, appointed as Enzo Maresca's replacement in January, it should still come as no surprise considering the Blues' current form under the Englishman.

Since March 13th, new Opta stats have revealed that Chelsea have taken the most attempts at goal in the Premier League, without scoring once, another record that makes them the worst in the league, below even already relegated Wolves.

Aside from their current league issues, over the past few weeks, Chelsea have also dropped out of the Champions League via a massive defeat to PSG.

The club's FA Cup semi-final tie with Leeds United on Sunday now represents Chelsea and Liam Rosenior's last opportunity at salvaging something from their season.
