More good news for Arteta...

Newly-crowned Premier League champion Mikel Arteta is set to be rewarded handsomely for his efforts at Arsenal, with a significant payrise, according to the Guardian.

The Gunners' triumph over Manchester City was confirmed thanks to Bournemouth, who secured a 1-1 draw with Pep Guardiola's side on Tuesday night, making it mathematically impossible for the Etihad outfit to catch the Gunners.

The clash began brightly for Bournemouth, as Kroupi Jr opened the scoring in the 41st minute with a beautiful curling effort.

It was the French teenager's 13th goal in his debut season in English football, and means he has now scored against all of the top three in the division this season.

Although Erling Haaland did manage to chip in with an equaliser in added time, this would only be a consolation strike for the Citizens, who could not find that crucial winner.

Scenes of jubilation have enthralled north London ever since full-time at the Vitality, and there may yet be more reason for celebration for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who appears set to be handed another major boost in support from the club he has managed since 2019, in the shape of a lucrative new contract.

Per a report in The Guardian, Arteta will be handed a salary increase worth around the same earned by Diego Simeone, the highest paid manager in world football.

Arteta currently earns £10 million each season, with a £5 million bonus for reaching the Champions League.

This could be increased to reach as high as €30m (£26m) a year, to meet the rate of Simeone's wages.

If the reported increase comes about, it would make Arteta an even higher earner than Pep Guardiola, who is reportedly paid a fee of £20 million per season.

The investment from Arsenal in Arteta should not come as a surprise.

In his six years at the club, the 44-year-old has transformed Arsenal Europa League battlers into Champions League finalists, all while becoming the second youngest manager to win the Premier League in history.

New contract terms are expected to be agreed within the coming weeks.
