Much has been said about the dearth of English talent at Premier League clubs.
Indeed even top-flight club academies have been accused of neglecting local talent, instead plumping for talented imports. But Manchester United's victory of PSV Eindhoven in the 'mini' Champions League on Tuesday afternoon was notable for the overwhelming Englishness of the playing squad. United’s Under-19s cruised to an impressive 3-0 win away to the Dutch fledglings, with goals from Callum Gribbin and Marcus Rashford (2). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHgfm-YT75k But as United fan Doron Salomon points out, perhaps most notable was the fact that 13 of the 14 players who representing the Red Devils were home grown and eligible to play for England.
