Man United fans fear City will move for Alexis Sanchez after Anfield defeat

Manchester City's unbeaten record is gone (at least Arsenal fans have something to be happy about, eh?).

Liverpool roared into a 4-1 second half lead over the runaway Premier League leaders at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, only for things to get a bit Dejan Lovreny towards the end. Still, Jürgen Klopp's men held on to finally inflict the first defeat of the season on City, winning the game 4-3. The loss means Pep Guardiola's men are looking anxiously over their shoulders, with second place Manchester United hoping to reduce their lead at the top to a slender 12 points as they host Stoke on Monday night. United are also reportedly set to strike another blow to their nearest neighbours by signing Alexis Sanchez from under their noses. It was claimed earlier in the day that United have moved the front of the queue for the Chilean, and are prepared to offer him bigger wages than those City are putting on the table. United fans aren't getting too carried away though. They know well enough not to believe a transfer is done until they see an image of their new signing wearing the famous red shirt (perhaps leaning awkwardly against a Chevrolet, or slurping a bowl of noodles from their official noodle partner, too). They're very much aware that Sanchez could still end up at City. He's apparently been eyeing a move there for much of the last six months and it's hard to imagine their owners are struggling to scrape together all the coins from down the back of their couch to afford the transfer fee and his wage packet.
