Late disappointment for Borussia Dortmund after Jadon Sancho scores again

There's been a growing sense in Germany that Bayern Munich's Bundesliga dominance is under threat

A difficult start to life under Niko Kovac has coincided with the resurgence of Borussia Dortmund - the last team other than Bayern to be German champions. Lucien Favre's men started the weekend top of the table with 20 points from their opening eight games, their exciting frontline averaging well over three goals a game in the season's early weeks. Buoyed by a midweek thrashing of Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, many would have expected them to claim all three points at home to Hertha Berlin on Saturday afternoon. This, however, was not to be the case. Having already scored once before half-time, Salomon Kalou's stoppage time penalty was enough for Hertha to claim a 2-2 draw at Westfalenstadion. Both Dortmund goals came courtesy of young Englishman, Jadon Sancho, who has now netted four goals in his last three outings for the club. His first of the afternoon opened the scoring, slotting home to cap a pacy break for the home side. Following Kalou's first equaliser, Sancho restored the Dortmund lead with half an hour to play with a straightforward tap-in, making absolutely sure Marco Reus' shot crossed the line. Sancho joined Dortmund after leaving Manchester City to try and secure first team football in 2017. His form this season has seen him rewarded with his first call-up to the England senior squad - making his debut for Gareth Southgate's men in the recent 0-0 draw with Croatia in Rijeka.
