Relegated West Brom earned more from TV money than Atletico Madrid last season

This is quite the disparity

West Bromwich Albion had a tough season. Alan Pardew was their manager, for one, which is really never a good thing. As is often the way when Pardew is your manager, things got pretty bad. As is also often the way when Pardew is your manager, he was sacked, and while Darren Moore eventually took over for the last few games of the season, the Baggies were unable to prevent relegation. On the plus side, West Brom can be content in the knowledge that they - the bottom-placed team in the Premier League this season - earned more through domestic TV money than La Liga's third-placed side from the 2016/17 season, Atletico Madrid. The Premier League's figures have just been released following the end of the league campaign, and it's essentially good news for everyone - even the team's on their way out of the league. Despite being relegated, West Brom earned close to £95 million last season, with the Premier League's top two - Manchester United and City - earning almost £150 million each. West Brom's earnings are almost an entire £10 million more than Diego Simeone's side earned last season (£86 million) despite them finishing in the Champions League places behind just Real Madrid and Barcelona. If nothing else, it's motivation for them to bounce right back up next season.
