Neil Warnock hits back at Pep Guardiola after Manchester City boss’ recent criticism

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has hit back at Pep Guardiola after the Manchester City boss criticised the Championship side's over-physical approach to their recent FA Cup meeting.
Guardiola was particularly angered by Joe Bennett's tackle on Leroy Sané, which left the German international with damaged ankle ligaments. He only received a yellow card for the tackle, though was eventually sent off in stoppage time for a second bookable offence. Warnock has now pointed out that, in his view at least, the runaway Premier League leaders have also been guilty of some "horrendous" tackles - both in the same game and in the match which followed, against West Brom.
"I wished they would have put a slow still of Kevin De Bruyne's tackle and studs on Jazz Richards," Warnock said.
"And the bad tackle of Fernandinho, and then when they played West Brom the following week.
"There were some horrendous tackles and nothing was said about that because there were another eight or nine games.
"We were unlucky on the day because Chelsea and Newcastle was the only other game and that was a damp squib."
Warnock's Cardiff side are currently fourth in the Championship and face a Friday night trip to 14th-place Millwall.Explore more on these topics:
