Liverpool say they are aware of the ongoing situation

Luis Diaz's parents have both been found after reports emerged that the Liverpool winger's mother and father had both been kidnapped.

Colombian president Gustavo Petro said on social media that his mother, Cilenis Marulanda, had been found while the search to find Luis Manuel Diaz remained ongoing at the time.

As per the Daily Mail, Diaz's father was found and rescued during a shootout that left two of his captors dead.

The incident is said to have taken place in the Los Barrancones area as the captors headed towards the Colombian border as they tried to smuggle the two into Venezuela.

Liverpool added that "the player’s welfare will continue to be our immediate priority" and they will support him by any means necessary.

Additionally, the Colombian Football Federation also offered their support to the former Porto winger.

They said: "We express our solidarity with him and his entire family and we call for the relevant authorities to act as quickly as possible to resolve the situation."

Jurgen Klopp's side face Nottingham Forest this afternoon, but it remains to be seen if Diaz will be included in the match day squad following recent events.
