Steven Gerrard considering bringing former Liverpool teammate Jon Flanagan to Rangers

Another day, another story about who Steven Gerrard might be signing for Rangers...

There have already been several arrivals at Ibrox since Steven Gerrard was confirmed as Rangers' new manager earlier this summer. Along with permanent deals for Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor, Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson, Gerrard has also used his influence at former club Liverpool to agree a loan deal for youngster, Ovie Ejaria. Following this, it now appears Gerrard could be poised to move for one of his former teammates at Anfield. Jon Flanagan made his debut aged 18 for Liverpool and played regularly as the club came agonisingly close to winning the Premier League title in 2014. Now 25, it was confirmed earlier this month that Flanagan had been released by the club after his contract expired. He had spent the second part of the 2017/2018 season on loan at Bolton Wanderers in the Championship.   The full-back has had off-field troubles in recent times and was given a 12-month community order for assaulting his girlfriend earlier this year. However, The Daily Record report that Gerrard believes he can help Flanagan and is considering making an offer to him in a bid to help him get his career back on track. Flanagan, who played under Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool, would be another defensive reinforcement for Rangers and would also be a free signing following his release from Anfield.
