Everton confirmed their intention to appeal last month

Everton have officially lodged a formal appeal following their imposed 10-point deduction.

A statement from the club released on Friday said: "Everton Football Club has today lodged with the Chair of the Premier League’s Judicial Panel its appeal of the decision by a Premier League Commission to impose a 10-point deduction on the Club. An Appeal Board will now be appointed to hear the case."

The Toffees were found guilty of breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

As a result they were hit with a 10-point deduction that saw them drop to 19th in the table, ahead of Burnley only on goal difference.

In their first game back since the ban Sean Dyche's side were comfortably beaten 3-0 at home by Manchester United.

Dyche takes his Everton side to Nottingham Forest this weekend in a game that could have a huge say in their survival chances.

Forest are nine points clear of the Toffees in 15th so three points to take back to Merseyside could be a huge boost to avoid the drop.
