"This guy is gone"

Football fans think Liam Rosenior's position as Chelsea manager may be jeopardy, after noticing a clear discrepancy between comments made by the head coach, and one of the Blues' first team squad.

Chelsea's woeful run of form, in which they've not scored a Premier League goal since March 13th, reached a new low on Tuesday evening, losing 3-0 to Brighton, and allowing the Seagulls to leapfrog them in the Premier League table.

Speaking after full-time, Rosenior branded his side's performance as "unacceptable"

He added: "I keep coming out and defending the players, that’s indefensible, that performance tonight.

“The manner of the goals we conceded, the number of duels that we lost, the lack of intensity in the team, something needs to change drastically right now.

“I think the players need to have a look in the mirror at what they put in. You can talk about tactics, tactics come after the basics.

“Having more courage to play, winning duels, winning headers, tackles, conceding terrible goals — that was an unacceptable performance tonight.”

That sentiment, that Chelsea's defeat came down to a lack of hard work on the night, wasn't reflected in the comments of Trevoh Chalobah, who also gave an interview after full-time.

Chalobah claimed: "It's nothing to do with effort.

“The boys were running their socks off. If you look in the dressing room, everyone is tired”. “We gave it our all. We got beat today. We ran today. The stats are stats. The boys are tired”.

Fans have been very quick to notice the clear difference between the feelings of Chalobah and Rosenior, and have suggested that it may point to that fact that Rosenior has "lost the dressing room."

One supporter, taking to X after full-time, pointed this out, saying: "This guy is gone, his comments are the exact opposite of what of Chalobah’s the players don’t believe in him."

Another added: "Liam Rosenior is sounding like someone who has lost the dressing room."

Nothing has been said by the club regarding Rosenior's position yet, and no final decision is expected ahead of this weekend's FA Cup semi-final game.
