Everton striker Oumar Niasse has been arrested following reports of an assault, police have confirmed.

The Senegal international was arrested in the early hours of Friday morning, the Daily Mirror reports. The 26-year-old was reportedly taken in for questioning after being arrested on suspicion of assault, and is said to be out on bail pending further enquiries. An Everton spokesperson said: “The Club condemns unreservedly any form of abuse. In this case, we understand an investigation is underway to establish the facts.” niasse2 Niasse, who joined Everton from Lokomotiv Moscow for £13.5m in January, has started just two Premier League games for the club. He is yet to score a goal or complete 90 minutes in an Everton shirt in a competitive game. He was one of three signings made by Roberto Martinez in the winter transfer window, and the only one to play a minute in the league. Young defender Matty Foulds has only featured for the club's Under-21 and Under-18 teams, while Swiss forward Shani Tarashaj was loaned straight back to Grasshoppers, the club from which he was signed. Everton are currently without a full-time manager following the departure of Roberto Martinez, and can finish no better than 11th in the league.
