David Beckham hopes to sign Lionel Messi for his MLS franchise - despite the fact his team don't even have a stadium yet. The Miami franchise is part of the North American league's expansion, which will eventually see the number of teams grow from 20 to 24, and they hope to be competing in time for the 2017 season. And according to the Daily Mail, Beckham has made signing the world's greatest footballer a "long-term" plan.
Whether Messi is prepared to walk away from Barcelona to play in America is another thing though.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, out of contract this summer with PSG, is another marquee signing who Beckham has reportedly targeted for his franchise.
