However, the Liverpool Echo is reporting that Flanagan has been assured of his future with the Reds. Discussions with Jurgen Klopp in recent months have convinced him he has a role to play in a possible Liverpool resurgence and quest for trophies.
Despite two seasons of injury woes, Flanagan signed a three-year deal with the club in March of this year. The local lad and fan favourite returned to preseason training earlier than most of his teammates and set his sights on getting 'super fit'.
He has, thus far, appeared in all of Liverpool's preseason friendlies.
Rodgers may have to look elsewhere for a new full-back.
