Wayne Rooney will have to wait for a chance to add to his record goal tally for England.

The Manchester United forward will start the friendly against Spain from the subsitutes' bench, after coach Roy Hodgson confirmed that he will use the fixture to experiment. Hodgson revealed that the Three Lions are looking at "various combinations" from the forwards available, though he said Rooney would start in the upcoming meeting with France. Harry Kane is expected to lead the line in Alicante, with Ross Barkley potentially supporting the Spurs striker. https://twitter.com/SimonPeach/status/664804195187470338
