The Irishman says he will make a return to the boxing ring

Conor McGregor has tonight made a huge announcement - saying that he will return to boxing, next fighting Manny Pacquiao in the Middle East. The UFC star last fought in a boxing ring in 2017, where he was stopped by Floyd Mayweather in the tenth round of their bout. McGregor has been quiet on social media lately - until tonight, when he broke his silence with a series of tweets announcing his return. He began his Friday night tirade by sharing screenshots of a private conversation between him and Dana White, President of UFC. McGregor expressed his frustration at not being offered a fight by White. He said: "I was pushing hard for the season. Multiple opponents, multiple dates offered throughout. All to take place back to back. Then when covid hit and the talk was that I would have to wait for crowds again, I walked away from the situation. I was waiting long enough at that stage." https://twitter.com/TheNotoriousMMA/status/1309558301861052417?s=20 Then, The Notorious dropped the bombshell news that what went on between him and the UFC was all "water under the bridge" because he had agreed a comeback fight. Just in the boxing ring instead. https://twitter.com/TheNotoriousMMA/status/1309560270453342209?s=20 He said: "Anyway all water under the bridge who gives a fook. I'm boxing Manny Pacquiao next in the Middle East." McGregor says: "It will be a true honour to have faced two of the greatest boxers of the modern era, afraid of a fight." At the moment, we've only got Conor McGregor's word for it. https://twitter.com/TheNotoriousMMA/status/1309570211461431299?s=20   Even as he announced his comeback against Pacquiao, McGregor couldn't resist a jab at Mayweather and Pacquiao.
