Apply for the role of 'masturbation consultant'

An AI company has posted a job ad seeking 10 “articulate, observant, and impossible to blush” candidates for the unusual role of “masturbation consultant”

While it’s probably not something you’d put on your CV or boast about in a job interview, for $2,000 (£1.5k) a month, you might be tempted to reconsider.

Joi AI is testing its “Daily Guided Masturbation” feature, and is seeking 10 people prepared to take on the role 'professionally'.

The job will take place over four weeks, and is open to over-18s in the UK and the US, according to Decrypt.

So, what does the job actually involve?

In addition to the self-love aspect, participants will record how to use the feature and monitor its effects on their stress levels, sleep, mood, and confidence.

Joi AI is looking for people who are "articulate, observant, and impossible to blush," as well as those who are able to articulate what they're feeling "better than a sommelier describes a wine."

The company's Daily Guided Masturbation feature is programmed to use a mood-matched AI voice to guide people through their masturbation session.

The 10 testers will take part in guided sessions and complete questionnaires about their experience for the Joi AI team to review

Some questions may focus on whether the AI-generated voice matched the mood and whether any lag disrupted the experience.

Joi AI is a platform that lets users swap traditional dating for an “AI-lationship”, allowing them to create custom AI characters with tailored personalities and relationships that evolve through conversation, which certainly raises questions about the future of tech.

After its original job listing went viral, Joi AI wrote on X in a follow-up: "No references required. No recommendations needed, we trust your years of experience speak for themselves."

So, how do you apply?

Those interested must complete a short survey, which includes questions such as 'Why do you want to do this?' and 'What do you hope to learn about yourself?'.

You can find the survey here.
