Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid has offered her two cents on the Oscar ordeal that saw Will Smith smack comedian Chris Rock following a joke made at the expense of his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
The world was left aghast last night (March 27) as Smith, 53, hit presenter and comedian Rock, 57, after the latter branded Smith's wife "G.I Jane."
Pinkett Smith, 50, suffers from alopecia, a condition that causes dramatic hair loss - and so she had made the courageous decision to shave off all of her hair.
While many interpreted Smith's explosive actions as him defending his wife, Good Morning Britain host Reid has offered another explanation.
"I don't think it was about the alopecia joke," she suggested. "If you see his first reaction to the joke, he doesn't react in an angry way."

She added: "It was his wife's reaction. There are other things going on and there's a lead up to this."
When co-host Richard Madeley added that Smith may have "felt bad that he was laughing at the joke", Reid offered an agreed "yes" in reply.
Madeley appeared to defended Smith's actions, while Reid insisted that there was simply no justification for a physical attack.
"Obviously you can see Will was furious about was said - and I'm not defending the joke - but really? It's 2022 and it's OK to get up on stage and hit somebody," she said.

"It's clearly not OK but it's happened and once it's happened you have to analyse the motives behind it," Reid's co-host replied.
"What I'm trying to suggest is, although you can say it was wrong, is it something you can say was understandable in the heat of the moment."
