NEVER celebrate too early…a lesson learned the hard way

Homenews

When steeplechase runner Tanguy Pepiot entered the final 100 metres of a gruelling race, it seemed as though victory was guaranteed...

As the crowd roared the University of Oregon athlete along the home straight, Pepiot acknowledged them with a gesture encouraging them to increase their volume. Unfortunately for the poor lad, he was about to be taught a valuable (and very harsh) lesson... The crowd's cheers weren't roars of approval, but rather a warning that a competitor was approaching quickly. Within seconds of his premature celebration - just metres from the finish line - Pepiot was overtaken. And as if suffering this embarrassment in full view of thousands of spectators wasn't bad enough, the footage has gone viral so that a few million others can watch it too... https://youtu.be/sqKHEaUHS5c
