Netflix's new show on Jeffrey Dahmer has been terrifying viewers since its release - but one key detail from the real life story will change how people watch it going forward.
Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story only dropped on the streaming service last week, and has already caused a stir, with some viewers saying they were not able to make it past the first episode.

The programme tells the story of one of America's most notorious serial killers, played by Evan Peters, who was convicted of murdering 17 men and boys in the Midwest United States between 1978 and 1991, before being captured and sentenced to serve 15 consecutive life sentences in 1997.
One of Dahmer's neighbours called Glenda Cleveland, played by Niecy Nash, became suspicious of his behaviour and tried to get police involved. But Cleveland's concerns were not listened to, and Dahmer continued to literally get away with murder for years.
Netflix portray this aspect of the story as if Cleveland lived next door to Dahmer, but this is apparently far from the case.

She actually lived in a completely separate building to the murder, local paper Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Cleveland died back in 2010, but her daughter told the publication that her mother had lived down the road from Dahmer.
While Netflix's representation here may be slightly different to reality, the story of Konerak Sinthasomphone's horrific death is unfortunately accurate.
Cleveland called the police after her daughter noticed 14-year-old Sinthasomphone coming out of Dahmer's apartment block, naked and covered in blood.
By the time police arrived, Dahmer had managed to return, and told officers that the teenager was his adult lover.
The cops fell for Dahmer's story, and allowed Sinthasomphone to go back inside with the murderer.
Cleveland contacted the police again after the incident but they continued to reject her claims. Later, Sinthasomphone became Dahmer's 13th victim.
