House where Matthew Perry tragically died has been destroyed by LA wildfires

The devastating wildfire has ravaged much the celeb-loved Pacific Palisades neighbourhood.

Over 130,000 residents are now under evacuation orders across the state of California, with numerous Hollywood stars affected.

The inferno initially erupted in the Pacific Palisades suburb on Tuesday, with gusts of up to 100mph allowing the blaze to spread throughout the valleys and canyons surrounding the city of LA.

According to Cal Fire, over 25,000 acres of the Palisades area and over 10,000 acres of the nearby neighbourhood of Easton have been scorched since Tuesday.

Realtor.com reports that Perry's former property was surrounded by fire on Wednesday, with neighbours sharing horrifying footage of the rapidly approaching conflagration to social media.

The Friends star died in October, 2023, after losing consciousness and drowning in his hot tub - located in the back garden of his four-bedroom, five-bathroom home.

Perry had only purchased and moved into the house a few months before his sudden death. The house was sold to a new owner for a whopping $8.55 million in December.

According to the LA Times, much of Los Angeles County remains under a red flag warning, with forecasters indicating that critical fire weather will last into the weekend.

On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office confirmed five people had been killed by the wildfires.

Several celebs have spoken about how they’ve had to flee the area, with some revealing their homes have been destroyed. 

Actor Billy Crystal said in a statement that he and his wife Janice were “heartbroken” to lose their Pacific Palisades home where they’ve lived since 1979.

The When Harry Met Sally star said: “We raised our children and grandchildren here.

“Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can’t be taken away.

“We are heartbroken of course but with the love of our children and friends we will get through this.”

Paris Hilton said on Instagram that she had lost her home in Malibu, writing: “Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience.

“This home is where we built so many precious memories… My heart and prayers are going out to every family affected by these fires.”
