British Fox News reporter is seriously injured near Kyiv following blast

He has previously reported from the likes of Iraq, Gaza and Syria

A British journalist with FOX News has been seriously injured near the Ukrainian capital after being hit with shrapnel in his legs. Benjamin Hall, 39, is being treated in intensive care following an attack near Kyiv, according to Irina Venediktova, Ukraine's prosecutor general, via Facebook. Details of the attack are still relatively scarce, with FOX's CEO Suzanne Scott telling employees that bosses have a "minimal level of details." Scott later confirmed Hall's identity on March 14, wherein a staff email she wrote: "Our correspondent Benjamin Hall was injured while newsgathering outside of Kyiv in Ukraine. "We have a minimal level of details right now, but Ben is hospitalized and our teams on the ground are working to gather additional information as the situation quickly unfolds. "The safety of our entire team of journalists in Ukraine and the surrounding regions is our top priority and of the utmost importance." A veteran in front lines reporting, Hall has previously been stationed in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Somalia and Gaza. The father of two has worked for the BBC, ITN and Channel 4 and written for The Times, The Sunday Times, The New York Times and Agence France Presse. During a press conference, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said: "Our thoughts, the president's thoughts, our administration's thoughts are with him, his family and all of you at Fox News." State Department Correspondents Association Shaun Tandon said he was "horrified to learn that our fellow correspondent Benjamin Hall was injured as he covered the Ukraine war." He added: "We know Ben for his warmth, good humour and utmost professionalism," it said. "We wish Ben a quick recovery and call for utmost efforts to protect journalists who are providing an invaluable service through their coverage in Ukraine." Hall is not the first journalist to be injured while covering the Russian invasion. On March 13, American journalist, photographer and documentary filmmaker Brent Renaud was killed in Irpin, which also left a photographer injured. Last week, viral footage obtained by Sky News reporters showed chief correspondent Stuart Ramsay being assailed by Russian soldiers. Both Ramsay and cameraman Richie Mockler were injured in the attack. Related links:
