Two young boys are being praised as heroes after saving their mum who was feeling unwell at their family home.

Gabriella, mother of Lucas and Matthias, aged five and three, started experiencing seizure symptoms after she lay down, back in February.

One of her sons, Matthias, used an Alexa to call their dad who then called an ambulance to come to their family home in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.

The other son, Lucas, meanwhile, stayed by his mum’s side as she was experiencing the seizures.

The mother said that leading up to the incident in their family home, she’d been having unexplained seizures for months.

Matthias then explained to the paramedics what had happened after the ambulance arrived at their home.

In that moment while dealing with the situation, mother Gabriella said that she was in awe of how mature her sons were in that moment.

“For a five and three-year-old to act like that, for Matthias to know, and use his initiative to ring my husband was incredible”, she said.

Officers of Newton Aycliffe Neighbourhood Policing team gave the boys certificates for their bravery by officers from Newton Aycliffe Neighbourhood Policing team who described the pair as “quick-thinking, young stars”.

“Both boys showed incredible courage, calmness, and care beyond their years”, the force said in a statement.

It added: “To recognise their actions PCSO Fotheringham and PCSO Todd presented Matthias and Lucas with ACE awards”.
