Barcelona star Lucas Digne gave first aid to victims of Las Ramblas attack

Barcelona defender Lucas Digne offered first aid to some of the victims of last Thursday's terrorist attack at Las Ramblas, reports have claimed.

According to RAC1 (via Marca), the 24-year-old, who lives on the city's Placa de Catalunya, made his way to the scene of the attack having become aware of the severity of the situation. The Frenchman is understood to have attempted to help some of those injured, albeit for a short period of time, until emergency services arrived. Police soon forced Digne - and other members of the public that were helping some of the victims - to leave the area with the terrorist situation ongoing. Digne was named as a substitute for Barcelona's La Liga opener at home to Real Betis on Sunday evening, coming on as a late substitute for Jordi Alba. Those in attendance at the Camp Nou had observed a minute's silence prior to the game, which also saw the home side's players wearing the name of the city on the back of their shirts instead of their names. 13 people are known to have died when a van was driven through crowds down the pedestrianised area of Las Ramblas, injuring more than 100 others. Spanish police confirmed on Monday that the man suspected of driving the van, Younes Abouyaaqoub, had been shot dead 25 miles west of Barcelona.
