Homenews

We're still scratching our heads about how smooth weatherman Liam Dutton pulled this off.

But somehow he just rolled Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch off his tongue, casual as you like, while doing his Channel 4 weather report. For anyone not aware, this small Welsh town with the big name holds the title for Britain's longest place name with a staggering 58 characters. https://youtu.be/jsSVunH1s1M When this American channel got wind of the story, they obviously fancied a crack at pronouncing this. They didn't even come close... Over in New Zealand, they had spotted Liam Dutton's linguistic prowess and fancied a little gentlen one-upmanship. Presenter Renee Wright topped that Welsh tongue twister, with this absolute leviathan of a place name: Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu. It's a name of a hill in Hawke's Bay boasting a ludicrous 85 character - and no, we're not even going to try.
