Revealed: Thomas Tuchel’s full expected England World Cup squad

Homenews

'It's just going to be Harry Kane at this point'

We are on the verge of founding out who will be in the England squad for the 2026 World Cup, and thanks to the English press, we already know a number of players who won't be on the plane.

The huge talking point last night was Thomas Tuchel's England squad selection as it was leaked that a number of players who were expected to be heading to North America would not in fact be going.

Meanwhile, their replacements seem a little bit left field too.

One player, who is definitely confirmed not to be going is Harry Maguire, who has released a statement in response, detailing his shock.

He wrote: "I was confident I could of played a major part this summer for my country after the season I’ve had.

"I’ve been left shocked and gutted by the decision. I’ve loved nothing more than putting that shirt on and representing my country over the years.

"I wish the players, all the best this summer."

Meanwhile, Chelsea's Cole Palmer and Man City's Phil Foden are set to be cut from the squad too.

England veteran and Euro 2020 final goalscorer Luke Shaw is also expected to miss out despite a very solid season for Man United while Morgan Gibbs-White is also set to not be included, as per reports.

AC Milan's Fikayo Tomori is also at risk of missing out too while David Ornstein has reported that Trent Alexander-Arnold will also be left at home.

A big exclusion would be the omission of Adam Wharton, which has also been heavily reported.

So who's actually going?

Reports have suggested a number of names to go in place of these left out players, including some that may turn a few heads.

Notably the potential surprise inclusion of Ivan Toney has left many scratching their heads, although his goalscoring record in Saudi Arabia certainly is impressive with 32 goals in 32 games.

Meanwhile, dressing room leader Jordan Henderson is also expected to make the squad.

A trio of Newcastle players are set to be named with Tino Livramento, Dan Burn and Anthony Gordon, but no Lewis Hall.

Djed Spence is expected to make the squad ahead of Trent.

The 'staying at home list'

As per reports these are the players expected to not make the squad:

  • Trent Alexander-Arnold
  • Levi Colwill
  • Phil Foden
  • Morgan Gibbs-White
  • Lewis Hall
  • Harry Maguire
  • Cole Palmer
  • Luke Shaw
  • Fikayo Tomori
