With Christmas rapidly becoming a distant memory, many of us need something to lift the January gloom.

Given the size of this week's jackpot, a lottery win would be the perfect tonic. Nobody matched the six main numbers in last Saturday's National Lottery - the seventh week on the trot that this has happened.
