Flagging at work? Dying for a holiday? Help is at hand.
The clever folk at the Liverpool Echo have studied the winter calendar and come up with a way for workers to get themselves 10 consecutive days of holiday over Christmas.
Better still, you only have to use three days of annual leave to do it.
Santa drives a Saab now. Tell your mates.
As the newspaper reports, because Christmas Day is a Sunday this year, the Bank Holiday that normally happens on December 25th gets shifted to the next available date, which would be Tuesday 27th.
That means a large proportion of workers will finish work on Friday 23rd December and won't have to return until Wednesday 28th.
Now a five day break is pretty decent, but as the Liverpool Echo recommends, if you book December 28th, 29th and 30th off, you won't have to return to work until January 3rd 2017.
Because not only is the Christmas Day Bank Holiday getting shifted, but the New Year's Day Bank Holiday is also moving.
Stop making the office Christmassy and go home to spend time with your loved ones.
Here's how it all works out:
Friday, December 23rd: Normal working day
Christmas Eve: Saturday
Christmas Day: Sunday
Boxing Day: Monday - Bank holiday
Tuesday, December 27th: Bank holiday (carried over from Christmas Day)
Wednesday, December 28th: Normal working day - BOOK THIS OFF
Thursday, December 29th: Normal working day - BOOK THIS OFF
Friday, December 30th: Normal working day - BOOK THIS OFF
New Year’s Eve: Saturday
New Year’s Day: Sunday
Monday, January 2nd: Bank holiday (carried over from New Year’s Day)
Tuesday, January 3rd: Normal working day
All in all, you get 10 days off work and you don't have to use up all of your holiday. Fantastic.
Book your days off now before the cat's out the bag...
(Of course, if you do shift work/have a retail job, you may have to be a bit more creative. Brb... praying for you.)
