Patients will need to meet a series of conditions

A weight-loss injection has officially been rolled out across the UK and is now available at high-street shops like Boots and Lloyds Pharmacy. The injection, named Saxenda, mimics a hormone known as GLP1, which is usually excreted after a filling meal. Essentially, the jab mimics said hormone to suppress appetite, reports ITV News. Celebrities are constantly slammed for promoting teas and a plethora of other weight-loss options. But luckily, patients will need to book an online consultation before they are given the revolutionary new drug. While Saxenda has now been rolled out on mass, the jab has actually been available since 2017 but only through a private prescription. People need to meet a series of criteria before they are even considered. In most cases, you have to be 30 or above on the Body Mass Index Scale (BMI) and have tried other methods of losing weight before. The 3ml pre-filled injection pen lasts 17 days, and a pack of three lasts just over a month. While they are not astronomically expensive, a pack of three will still set you back £150, and a five-pack £240. When combined with a low-fat diet and exercise, Saxenda patients can expect to lose 5 per cent body fat over three months.
