All of us, at some time or another, have looked at someone in peak physical shape and thought 'I wish I looked like that'. That is a natural thing to do. But what many of us don't consider is the sacrifices and downsides that come with bodybuilding to this extent. We spoke to Jay Alderton, a former bodybuilder, who revealed the toll that his search for peak condition took on both his body and mind. From buying cakes for his wife to eat so he could "have a sniff", to recounting how one peer would buy biscuits, chew them, and spit them out.
