The dryly murderous teen girl Wednesday Addams is getting her own series on Netflix, and all to be directed by the legendary (and most perfect fit imaginable) Tim Burton.
Netflix announced the new show is on the way, with their press release as follows:
"Netflix and MGM/UA are thrilled to announce the new live-action coming-of-age comedy Wednesday that will see everyone’s favourite maiden of the macabre graduate into a full fledged leading lady."
The new take on the iconic character comes from Al Gough and Miles Millar (Spider-Man 2, Smallville), but all eyes are on Burton directing.
You'd be forgiven for thinking he actually directed the two Addams Family movies (it was actually Barry Sonnenfeld, who also directed Men In Black), but Burton does seem like a great fit for a new take on the character.
If he can channel his own old-school quirkiness from the likes of Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands, and less of his more recent, more CGI-assisted movies like Alice In Wonderland or Dumbo, then we could be on to an absolute winner here.

There is no word yet on who will be playing Wednesday, or why the show is specifically focussing on her and not a series on the entire family, but we'll be sure to be getting answers before long.
Now, if you'll excuse us, we're going to watch these clips of Wednesday representing our lockdown spirit animal for several minutes straight...
