Reading and Leeds have banned punters from bringing pineapples into the festival

That's right. You read that correctly. Don't be bringing any pineapples into the Reading and Leeds festivals this year, because you ain't allowed.

The festivals have added pineapples to the list of items banned from the massive August Bank Holiday weekend bonanzas. Normally you'd expect to see things like drugs, knives, fireworks, explosives and other such no-nos, but this year pineapples make an appearance on the list. The reason why? It's all to do with the band Glass Animals. There they are, the Glass Animals lads. So what's the deal then? If you're a Glass Animals fan you'll know already, but it's all to do with their song Pork Soda, which features the lyric "pineapples are in my head". Pineapples make a regular appearance at Glass Animals gigs as a result. "Anyone who wasn't bringing a pineapple definitely is now," he said. "It's fruitist. Watermelons are fine, but not pineapples?" A spokesman for the festival said: "Organisers were a little concerned about hundreds of pineapples turning up on site so decided to ask fans not to bring them along."
