The five-part limited series arrives on Boxing Day
In recent years, Netflix has taken to releasing a major new show around Christmas Day in order to get as many eyeballs on it as possible.
Examples of this include the first seasons of The Witcher and Bridgerton, which dropped during the festive period in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
This year's version of that phenomenon seems to be Treason, a new spy thriller series starring Charlie Cox of Daredevil and Kin fame, which has just released a trailer.
Cox plays Adam Lawrence, who is appointed the chief of MI6 after someone tries to kill his predecessor.
Soon after this, the past catches up with Adam in the form of Kara (Olga Kurylenko, Quantum of Solace), a Russian spy with whom he shares a complicated past - forcing him to question everything and everyone in his life.
"A triangular relationship forms between Kara, Adam and his wife, Maddy (Oona Chaplin, Taboo); three people who are trying to expose each other’s secrets, navigate political and diplomatic relationships, whilst hanging onto their personal lives, and those they love most," the Netflix plot synopsis.
Irish actor Ciarán Hinds also appears in the series, reuniting him with Charlie Cox following their work together on the RTÉ crime drama Kin.
Treason will comprise of five episodes and comes from writer Matt Charman, who worked on the screenplay for the Oscar-winning movie Bridge of Spies.
It will be released on Netflix on 26 December, and the trailer can be watched below.
