Michael B. Jordan and a red-carpet interviewer shared an awkward exchange at a premiere for his movie Creed III recently. This was after the actor confronted the reporter over comments made on her podcast about him.
For a little background, the interviewer, Lore’l, went to school with Jordan - something that she had talked about on an episode of her podcast The Undressing Room.
On the episode in question, Lore'l's co-host Dominique Da Diva said: "Deep down inside, I think that Michael B. Jordan is just like a nice corny guy and I don't mean that as a slight, right?
"I mean, we all know that the nice corny guys treat you the best."
Lore’l then said in response: "You know what’s so crazy? I went to school with Michael B. Jordan at a point in life.
"To be honest with you, we teased him all the damn time because his name was Michael Jordan. Let’s start there, and he was no Michael Jordan.
"He also would come to school with a headshot. We lived in Newark, that’s the hood. We would make fun of him like: ‘What you gonna do with your stupid headshot?’ Now look at him!"
At a premiere for Creed III, which Jordan directed and stars in, Lore'l interviewed the actor - starting their chat by saying: "We know each other. We go way back, all the way to Chad Science in Newark."
Misattributing the corny comment to Lore'l, Jordan than remarked: "Oh, the corny kid, right?"
The interviewer then said: "I did not say that. Misquoted for sure," to which Jordan responded: "No, I heard it."
Lore'l then responded: "No, you did not," before elaborating: "I said we used to make fun of the name but yeah, he is obviously killing things out here."
After this initial exchange, the pair began to discuss the latest movie in the Creed/Rocky franchise which is getting rave reviews.
Signing off her interview with Jordan, Lore'l joked: "Well, you're not corny anymore." You can watch the full interview below.
We here at JOE said of the film: "Creed III has absolutely no right to be any good, let alone this good. As it stands, it instantly becomes one of the best entries in the franchise to date, and it comes down to two specific things: (1) Jordan directs the fights in this movie like they're huge action scenes. They're given an IMAX-sense of scale which fully fits the epic nature of this personal story, and (2) Jonathan Majors. We cannot overemphasise how good Jonathan Majors is in this movie."
Meanwhile, JOE chatted with Jordan's co-stars in Creed III - Jonathan Majors and Tessa Thompson - about the film. You can watch those interviews on our YouTube channel.
